Job overview

Raising educational achievement and equipping our young people for the world of work is a key strategic priority for the Council. The care and welfare of our children and young people is at the heart of what we do and is reflected in the continuous improvement in learning and attainment.

We have invested heavily in professional support for all of our Education staff and have a comprehensive rebuilding and refurbishment programme for our school estate.

We have reconfigured our services to match our Community Planning objectives and, recognising that closing the attainment gap is a key element in achieving our ambitions, we have created a new model of empowered Education Groups managed by Executive Leadership Teams backed by expert advice, challenge and support from the centre.

The Head of Education as an integral member of the Council Management Team will pursue our ambitious aims for East Ayrshire. The role is pivotal in setting the Education vision and strategy, driving both local and national priorities, and delivering the Council’s strategic priorities and objectives to improve the lives and life chances of children of all ages.

Our ideal candidate will be an established professional, with experience of working at a senior level in Education who will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to think strategically and to find creative solutions through collaboration and partnership working.

We are keen to hear from those who believe they can successfully apply their leadership ability to the challenges, which we face. You will share our commitment to ensuring excellent educational experiences and improving educational outcomes for all our children and young people.
