Job overview

Bamber Bridge, Preston

Are you passionate about giving young people the best start in life? About creating life opportunities where none existed before? If so, we’ve got the perfect place for your skills and commitment: an outstanding school for SEN students. As Head of Education at Cumberland School ASC/Complex needs, your expertise - and our resources - can make a crucial impact. We offer a unique learning environment for up to 45 students, providing expert therapeutic care and state-of-the-art facilities. To help us help even more young people, the School will soon be expanding to encompass a secondary site where we’ll cover a range of vocational subjects and take a further 55 students. You’ll work to raise standards across the piece wherever you can, giving students an education that’s second to none.

The role

An inspiring leader, you’ll have a great opportunity to help our students achieve their potential. You’ll work closely with the Executive Head Teacher to Lead the school site and apply your knowledge, tackling staff deployment, timetables and curriculum development. What’s more, you’ll be at the heart of improvements, driving development with the Senior Leadership Team. With your help, we’ll maintain our ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating and set the benchmark for excellence within our sector.

Your profile

Cumberland caters for students aged 11 to 18 and many have conditions such as ADHD and ASC. It’s important you understand these conditions - which is why you must be an experienced SEN teacher, able to apply the National Curriculum to students who display complex and challenging behavior. However, this specialist role calls for wider talents: motivation, flexibility and strong communication skills. In short, we need a leader who’ll achieve solid improvement - an aspiring ASC specialist, a driven professional who’ll inspire teams and students. If that sounds like you, there’s an exciting challenge ahead: one that’s highly rewarding in all sorts of ways.

For children with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. Through our aspirational homes, schools and ethos, we’ve achieved the highest possible outcomes. In short, we’re creating life opportunities where none existed before.

Reward

We know you’re going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we want to reward you with a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. You’ll receive a competitive salary, teacher’s pension (where applicable) and comprehensive induction and ongoing training, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, Kia preferential Affinity Scheme, Merlin Entertainment discounts, Cycle to Work and tax free childcare vouchers.
