Job overview

Are you passionate about education? Want to help shape its future in Gloucestershire?

We have a great opportunity for a visionary and engaging education advocate to join our team at a time of challenging and exciting developments.
In Gloucestershire, we have a strong school system with educational attainment above the national average and Ofsted judgments rank our schools as among the best in the south west. We are committed to improving outcomes for all our children and young people, so that we can ensure that they reach their full potential. We are making good progress in our ambition but are strengthening our focus on long term strategic direction.

If successful, you will identify and lead major change programmes and be accountable for the council’s strategy, management and delivery of all statutory duties in relation to school funding. You will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Schools Forum and associated activities and have leadership and management of the council’s High Needs Programme.

You will bring significant experience of championing the needs of children, young people and their families while making hard choices and pragmatic decisions.

You will be politically aware, with a proven ability to command the respect, trust and confidence of schools, elected members and our local communities.

You will be able to demonstrate success in leading and influencing outcomes, multi-agency working and resource management. Relevant education experience or professional expertise is essential, with the ability to work to a demanding agenda.
