About the School

Nestled in 8.3 acres of lush greenery, GEMS Modern Academy, Kochi is a new and quickly growing International school providing a world class education supported by outstanding facilities. We currently have 450 students from Pre KG to Grade 9 and will be opening for Grade 10 and 11 next academic year, hopefully growing to 650 students across school.

Set on a magnificent estuary, serene Kochi has been drawing traders, explorers and travelers to its shores for over 600 years. Recently featured in the Lonely Planet as one of the Top 10 cities in the world to visit in 2020, nowhere else in India could you find such an intriguing mix: giant Chinese fishing nets, a 450-year-old synagogue, ancient mosques, Portuguese- and Dutch-era houses and the crumbling remains of the British Raj. The result is an unlikely blend of medieval Portugal and Holland and an English village grafted onto the tropical Malabar Coast.

About the Role

GEMS Modern Academy, Kochi, has been thoughtfully constructed to provide a learning environment that’s filled with opportunities to discover, explore and have fun.

As the school continues to grow, we are looking for an outstanding, creative and passionate Head of English & Performing Arts to join our team in August 2021 or earlier.

Successful applicants will have the following:

• Bachelor's / Master's degree specializing in the subject taught and a certified teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English National Curriculum up to iGCSE and AS/A2 Level
• The desire to provide outstanding teaching and learning.
• The capacity and passion to promote and embed outstanding teaching and learning in creative collaboration with likeminded colleagues.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
• Aspiration to work in a world class school and global organization with support and opportunities to develop as a senior leader to advance your career and coach others.
• A creative, enthusiastic and empowering approach both in and out of the classroom to deliver outstanding outcomes for our community
• Familiar with school systems and strong IT skills.
