JOB DESCRIPTION

 

HEAD OF ENGLISH

Shawnigan is looking to appoint a Head of English commencing for the 2023-2024 school year. This position will be a member of the Academic Council and will report to the Assistant Head – Academics.

 

The successful candidate for this position will take on the role of Department Head for all aspects of the English courses at the School and oversee the successful delivery of all courses to ensure that they align with BC Ministry of Education and/or AP College Board requirements.  The successful candidate will teach English courses alongside their leadership role.

 

Acting as a leader, mentor and role model amongst the members of the English department, this individual not only manages the needs of the department, but acts as the voice of the department at the Academic Council table. The Department Head leads by example. They demonstrate interest and engagement in all the courses offered by the department. They engage in an appropriate balance of student life and co-curricular.
