Job overview

This is a pivotal time in our school's development - the launch of our Senior School up to GCSE.

We are an independent day and flexible boarding school for girls and boys aged 2 to 13 years, expanding to 16 years from September 2023. The first cohort will progress into Year 9 in September 2023; they will move through the school to be our first Year 11 students, taking GCSE examinations in the Summer of 2026.

As Head of the English Department you will be responsible for the teaching of English from EYFS through to GCSE, in liaison with our excellent Head of Prep and Head of EYFS. You will have full responsibility for the planning and teaching of the subject in the Senior School.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and forward thinking teacher to take the next step in their career and may suit someone seeking to take on the Head of Department role for the first time.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching and learning, student achievement and aspirations, able to inspire and get the best out of students and someone who will show commitment to the school’s vision and ethos. The ability and flair to also teach Drama and/or History would be a real bonus.
