Head of English

The British International School, Lagos, (BIS), is a leading Nigerian day and boarding secondary school located in the heart of the city on Victoria Island. The school has an enviable academic reputation and offers a broad range of sporting and co-curricular activities. The school campus is purpose-built and occupies an extensive and very attractive site offering all of the facilities needed for a broad and balanced education. Recent developments have included state of the art science laboratories and improvements to all areas of the campus.

BIS is seeking to appoint a new Head of English for September 2019 to take full responsibility for all areas of the English curriculum throughout the school. The department is strong and has a good track record of examination results at IGCSE level, following the specifications of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). The successful candidate will be passionate about the subject with expertise in the teaching of both English Language and English Literature. Experience in staff development and delivering effective CPD at departmental level will be especially welcome. 

The remuneration package for the new Head of English includes a tax-free salary commensurate with the role, attractive accommodation on the school campus, return flights, health care and daily domestic help.
