About you:

Due to our continued growth, we seek to appoint a well-qualified and an outstanding Head of English Language Learning (ELL/EAL) to join our team in August 2020 to support us with the leadership of inclusion provision across the school. This role is to lead ELL/EAL provision across the whole school (FS1 - Y13), in addition to coordinating and facilitating the Fortes Intensive Education Language Programme (FIELP) camps. The post-holder will be required to work an additional 15 days each year. The core purpose of the role is to work with the Governors, Senior Leaders and the Inclusion Leader to determine the strategic development of the school's inclusion (ELL/EAL) provision and oversight of the day-to-day operation of that policy with the aim of raising achievement for Groups of students (Students of Determination/Gifted and Talented/Emirati/English Language Learners and those with English as an Additional Language). You will be actively involved in the formation of policies and practices designed to raise attainment, together with effective monitoring of the impact of those. You will be enthusiastic about working within a school environment and supporting the needs of the School.

In addition to the co-ordination of provision for students who are learning English, the post-holder will be expected to increase the capacity of classroom teachers and other education professionals to be fully inclusive by leading Professional Development and providing support through: 

• the identification of the specific needs of individual students 

• the development of specific and personalised individual education plans 

• the development of pedagogical and educational strategies 

• the modification and adaptation of curriculum structures                        

• the development of appropriate assessment procedures 

• modelling appropriate teaching strategies such as co-teaching or team teaching with the classroom teacher

• Excellent communicators who can ignite a passion for learning in our students 

• Able to make a significant contribution to our extra-curricular activities (ECA) programme and to wider campus life 

• Strong academic background, work-ethic, well-organised having excellent interpersonal skills 

• Dynamic, enthusiastic & well-qualified holding at a minimum, a degree in English with QTS 

• Candidates with Post-Graduate qualifications in ELL / EAL or a CELTA / TEFL would be preferred 

• Experience with coaching, facilitating or team-teaching desirable  

• The successful candidate will be someone with strong leadership and good organisational skills and who can take responsibility for designated Learning Support Assistants, and who can effectively liaise with relevant staff, external agencies and parents.
