Job overview

St. Hugh’s is a friendly and thriving school set in the delightful village of Woodhall Spa. We offer a stimulating, well-resourced teaching environment that has high expectations for pupil achievement.

Applications are invited for the position of Head of English from September 2017 or sooner if possible. The position would be ideally suited to candidates with prior experience of teaching English in a prep school or to pupils in KS2 & KS3. A keen interest in Drama would be beneficial together with the ability to teach a second subject.

The successful candidate will be required to teach English to pupils in KS2 & KS3 but involvement with younger children will be required in extra-curricular activities. Whilst teaching groups are small, often as small as groups of 12, and rarely larger than 18 a high level of commitment and enthusiasm is necessary. Most importantly, however, the applicant must possess a love of their job. The applicant should possess a desire to interest, enthuse and teach children of all abilities.

The teaching salary will reflect the experience of the candidate.

Completed application forms and a covering letter should arrive at the school by no later than Friday 17th March 2017.

Please contact Mr Chris Ward (Headmaster) for further information on 01526 352169

St Hugh’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Consequently a Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate will be required for this post.

ISI report

“Teaching is firmly based upon an understanding of the pupils’ needs and the way in which they learn, and the very best teaching involves pupils fully in their learning. Teachers are well qualified and have commitment, dedication and a huge enthusiasm for their teaching.”
