St George’s School seeks a well-qualified professional to lead the English English department in our flourishing secondary department, to begin in August 2020.
Serving the international community in Duisburg-Düsseldorf for over 10 years, St. George’s School combines an enriching curriculum with family orientated care. The school has grown from small beginnings into a thriving community of over 700 pupils, aged from 2-18 and representing a broad range of nationalities.
The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school, and we offer the IB Diploma in our Sixth Form.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced professional to shape the further development of our English department.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with previous leadership experience. We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching and learning which will inspire students and colleagues.
The successful applicant will work with small, focussed classes in Middle and Upper School, preparing for IGCSE examinations. The opportunity to teach IB courses, as well as further pastoral roles, may be available to the suitable candidate.
The secondary department covers the age range 11-18 and incorporates the curricula for Key Stage 3, IGCSE and IB Diploma. We prepare pupils for both the English Language and English Literature IGCSE qualifications and offer both English Literature and English Language and Literature as IB options at Standard and Higher Level. Familiarity with the British education system is therefore a prerequisite. Experience of IB teaching is preferred, but not required. Please note that pure EAL Teachers will unfortunately not be considered.

All applicants should hold a valid teaching qualification. We consider a degree in education (e.g. B.Ed./M.Ed./Lehramt), or postgraduate teaching certificate (e.g. PGCE) as valid. English language teaching certificates (e.g. TEFL/IELTS/CELTA) are not sufficient.
