Manchester Islamic High School for Girls is an ‘Ofsted Outstanding’ rated independent school. We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and well qualified full time Head of English to teach across KS3 & 4, leading a very successful department. The department has a passion for English and a commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learning.
The school offers a supportive environment for both staff and students. Student motivation is high, and all staff are expected to recognise, nurture and support the educational, emotional and spiritual development of every student. We have a fundamental desire to challenge children to achieve better and higher.
As Head of Department in English you will be responsible to lead, manage and develop your department to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of excellence in all areas of the curriculum.
The successful candidate is expected to respect the faith ethos of the school, contribute to the enrichment and extra- curricular activities and have a proven record of inspired teaching with a dynamic approach.
This position is to commence 17th April 2017 but the start date could be deferred to 1st September 2017 for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate. The successful candidate will have an appropriate teaching qualification and be qualified to degree level.

The Manchester Islamic High School for Girls is an all girls, Muslim independent secondary school in the county of Lancashire serving students from the age of 11-16. The secondary school, situated in Chorlton, Manchester has approximately 219 students on record.
The Manchester Islamic High School for Girls was established in 1991 by the Manchester Islamic Education Trust Ltd, who also oversee The Manchester Muslim Preparatory School and Kassim Darwish Grammar School for Boys. It was the first school in Manchester to combine the teaching of Islam along with the National Curriculum. The school was identified as outstanding by Ofsted in 2015.
