Are you an exceptional teacher, an aspiring middle-leader or perhaps an experienced Head of Department ready to make your next move?  

Oxford High School is looking for a dynamic and inspiring individual to lead the English department and teach English throughout the school, including up to A Level.  

As Head of English, you will have overall responsibility for the professional leadership and management of the department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are delivered, resources are used efficiently and effectively and the curriculum is managed and developed.

Central to Oxford High School English is a sense of serious fun. We take every opportunity to foster the girls' creative and critical engagement with ideas, through lessons that are varied, stimulating - and highly distinctive.

The department is a diverse group of individuals, but we all share a profound belief in the universal power of great writing to inspire and move us to a deeper understanding of the world and of ourselves. We provide a wealth of opportunities for girls to write in a wide range of forms and genres, and they learn to express themselves with fluency, accuracy and individual flair. About Oxford High School for Girls GDST

Oxford High School is an independent, non-denominational, all-through school for girls without nursery and with sixth form, situated in three sites in Summertown, North Oxford. It is one of 26 members of the GDST (Girls’ Day School Trust), meaning it is governed by the council and operates according to the trust’s policy. The school provides 906 places for primary, secondary and sixth-form students aged 4-19.

Oxford High School was founded in 1875 and is the oldest girls' school in the city. Until recently it accepted boys into its junior school, but is now girls-only.
