Your application form should be accompanied by a letter of application of no more than two sides of A4 Arial point 11 and be returned to Mr I Murphy, Headteacher at Haydock High.

As we recongise that the closing date for this post is during the half term break we would like to inform you in advance that candidates selected for interview will be asked to:

  • To plan and teach a 25 minute lesson involving a response to poetry – to a Year 8 class.The class has a current level at the end of last year of 5b – 7c
  • Deliver a 15 minute presentation to a panel comprising of the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and up to two other panel members, followed by questions about your presentation. The powerpoint template for the presentation is available on the school website
    www.haydockhigh.org.uk under Vacancies. It consists of 5 slides, and slides 2, 3, 4 and 5 are those you should populate. Some guidance is included below:
  • Slide 2 - identify those aspects of your work that you will prioritise;
  • Slide 3 – what short-term initiatives can be employed which will positively address some of these issues;
  • Slide 4 – what long-term plans can be implemented to build for sustained improvement;
  • Slide 5 – what will the impact of these innovations ‘look like’ for the students, department and the school.

    Please bring 4 copies of your presentation to be distributed to the panel, and your presentation should be saved to a pen drive. If you have any questions or queries about the process, pleasedo not hesitate to contact the school.

Haydock High School is a non-denominational secondary school in St Helens, Merseyside. At its most recent inspection, there were 700 students aged 11-16 on the school roll. 

Haydock High School was founded in 1932 and has been fully co-educational since 1947. The village of Haydock has a population of 11,500 and is located midway between Liverpool and Manchester. Facilities at the school are also used by Haydock Community Leisure Centre. The secondary school's library is open from 8am for homework club and after school until 4pm.
