North Durham Academy is currently looking to appoint a successful and ambitious Head of English to lead our English Directorate from January  2019. This role presents an unrivalled opportunity to make a real difference and the chance to contribute to our journey in becoming an outstanding provider of education. 

Head of English                                                        L8-L12    £46,798 - £51,637 pa

Working with the Trust’s Assistant Director of Learning and Progress, you will be required to provide professional leadership, strategic direction and management of this crucial subject.  

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate they have the capacity to lead and manage the Directorate whilst driving forward continuous improvement.   

Applicants will have high aspirations and a track record of delivering consistently good (and often outstanding) teaching to KS5 with a resulting positive impact on student attainment. An ability to show how you have contributed to whole school development would also be a distinct advantage.   

You will lead on raising student outcomes and standards at all key stages within the directorate and participate in delivering improvement strategies, where identified.   

As well as excellent communication skills, you must have resilience and empathy and be able to work effectively under pressure.  

You will develop, lead and implement the Directorate’s development plan and be responsible for appraising staff within the Directorate.
