HEAD OF ENGLISH
Just as English plays a seminal part in a child’s education, the Head of English is a seminal role at NHP.
Not only is that person guardian of the broad, challenging English curriculum, but they serve as a guide and model for every teacher of English from Reception to Year 8.
The Head of English is central to the school’s continued success at 11+ and 13+, with particular emphasis on preparing children rigorously for 11+. The successful candidate should possess a sound knowledge of London schools 11+ and the 13+ Common Entrance syllabus.
The successful candidate will therefore be a person of energy and focus, keen to build on the outstanding legacy created by the current Head of Department; ambitious for the children yet sensitive to their wellbeing. As a model of organisation and collaboration for their colleagues, they will be able to quickly win their trust.

This appointment will be to cover maternity leave and extend for a fixed term of either: a) four terms from April 2018 or b) three terms from September 2018. Length of tenure may be extended and will be discussed at interview.

Notting Hill Preparatory School is a mixed, non-denominational independent primary school in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, serving students from the age of 4-13. The primary school, situated in Notting Hill has approximately 435 students on record.
Notting Hill Preparatory School opened in 2003, set up through the collaboration of parents and teachers. The school opened new buildings in 2009 and 2018, with facilities including a computer suite and specialist art, music and science rooms.
