The school is looking for a Head of Faculty – English and Reading Intervention to join the team in Bodmin. Someone who is organised, self-motivated and keen to make a difference would be perfect for this role.

The school is a specialist provision located in Lanlivery near Bodmin in mid Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for children and young people aged 5 to 16 who have social, emotional, mental health and communication difficulties or associated behaviours that challenge.

Unable to achieve in a mainstream environment, the school aim is to help pupils excel by providing a structured, nurturing approach, with students accessing a broad, balanced, engaging and extraordinarily rich curriculum.

The school welcome staff who share in the commitment to help children experience better days and better lives. Through ongoing development and training, the school ensure the staff are well prepared for their jobs and given every opportunity to extend their skills.

The successful applicant will have specific responsibilities in this role:

  • to ensure there are accreditation opportunities for English across all key stages at the school, to incorporate Unit Award Schemes, ASDAN, Functional Skills, Entry Level, GCSE and other appropriate accreditation opportunities
  • to oversee the coordination and implementation of the whole school Literacy Across the Curriculum Policy
  • to complete regular evaluations of online learning platforms for school use and homework, e.g. Literacy Planet and Rapid Reading
