Head of Faculty:  Humanities

MPS/UPS + allowance up to £4,000 (a Leadership scale contract is available for a suitably experienced candidate: L1-4)

Start date: September 2018

FRA is evolving and expanding and we are looking for an inspirational Geography specialist to champion the Humanities subjects. Can you:

Help students to understand others through their languages, histories and cultures. Reveal how people have tried to make moral, spiritual and intellectual sense of the world. Teach empathy. Weigh-up evidence sceptically in order to avoid the dangers of ‘the single story’. Build skills in writing and critical reading. Encourage creative thinkers to shape informed and democratic communities…

  • promote creativity and engagement through memorable learning experiences 
  • develop and enhance the teaching practice of others
  • design an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum 
  • be accountable for student attainment and achievement within the Faculty, monitoring, supporting and ensuring student progress

About Fowey River Academy

Fowey River Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school situated in Fowey, Cornwall. There are approximately 684 students at the school, between the ages of 11-16.

Fowey River Academy was established in 1692 as Fowey Free School, opening to 30 pupils from low income families. The school has since been a boarding and grammar school throughout the years. In 2014, it received academy status, changing its name from Fowey Community College to Fowey River Academy.
