Job overview

Exeter College is a large, thriving and growing tertiary college which places teaching, learning and student success as our top priority. We enjoy an excellent regional reputation. The College was judged as outstanding by Ofsted in a pilot "no notice" inspection in 2012, and again in a public inspection in 2014. In 2017 Exeter College was awarded the TEF Gold Award for our University Level Provision. We have high expectations of our students and staff and each year their combined efforts result in excellent examination grades, outstanding learner success rates and superb music, arts, sports and community achievements. We welcome apprentices and students of all ages and abilities and our tutorial and learner support programmes are designed to meet their needs, challenging them to reach their full potential.

This is an ideal time to join Exeter College as the Head of Healthcare, Childcare and Public Services in a consistently outstanding and thriving Faculty with ambition to be exceptional. We are looking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic Head of Faculty to join our high performing College Leadership Team.

The faculty is judged outstanding in all areas and has a broad and exciting curriculum offer from Level 1 through to Level 6. This includes 16-18 full-time provision, Apprenticeships, Access to Education, Higher Education and a commercial offer. The Faculty has seen a consistent growth in learner numbers in 16-18 full-time, Apprenticeships and Higher Education and is a large vocational Faculty. We have established high quality relationships with employers with whom we work collaboratively to secure the best possible outcomes for our learners and we deliver bespoke training and support for them. The team are high performing and are passionate about delivering exceptional teaching and learning that provides the very best opportunities for progression, with many learners going on to study at University or an Apprenticeship or securing employment.

With the introduction of T Levels, changes to Apprenticeship standards and shortages of staff in the sector, there is a real opportunity to innovate and continue to grow all provision whilst continuing the Faculty journey to exceptional. The successful candidate will be an effective and adaptable leader, inspirational and ambitious for both the learners and the Faculty. You will have demonstrable and strong leadership, and management experience of vocational provision aligned to the subjects offered by the Faculty and be able to contribute to our outstanding College.

Exeter is a well-regarded, growing City, situated close to attractive countryside and coastlines. With an international airport, excellent road and rail links, and a range of prestigious employers it is a great place to live and work.
