Capel Manor College is London’s only Specialist College for land-based studies and an internationally renowned learning resource for all those interested in Horticulture, Animal Management, Saddlery, Arboriculture, Floristry, Garden Design, Countryside and the Environment.  

Capel Manor College believes it has the best opportunities of any College in the country to deliver FE and vocationally based Floristry and Balloon Artistry.  

The College is seeking to appoint an entrepreneurial and experienced person to build on the clear strengths and fully realise the potential that exists to create and develop an outstanding and financially successful School of Floristry and Balloon Artistry.  

Main Duties & Responsibilities: 

Development and improvement of School of Floristry including commercial and educational in line with the College values and strategic aims and objectives 

Developing, planning and managing curriculum and delivery to meet the needs of learners and employers across all College centres 

Line management of Team Leader and other staff including shop and resource staff 

Teaching, assessing, course managing and being a tutor and a clear role model for the standards and expectations of the College 

Overseeing quality assurance and quality improvement in the School to drive the provision to the highest standards of excellence 

Understanding the needs of learners, employers, parents, the industry and other stakeholders through actively seeking and responding to feedback  

Careful and effective management of the School’s resources and budgets in line with College expectations 

Leading on innovative and projects relevant to the School and the College 

Liaison with other Heads of School, SMT, Governors and key staff as needed to meet the wider aims and objectives of the College  

Required Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have experience of working in or with the floristry industry and the floristry supply chain and an interest in maximising the commercial, events and sponsorship opportunities for students and the College.  You will have knowledge of the curriculum specialisms within Floristry; including floral design, flower arranging and balloon artistry, along with:  

Experience of management (including projects and resources) in a pressurised and demanding role (ideally education) 

Teaching qualification and a proven track record of delivering teaching and learning in an educational or training environment to a consistently high standard (or willingness to achieve this) 

Floristry or relevant qualification (or willingness to achieve this) 

Assessor/Verifier awards and a proven track record of ensuring quality of provision (or willingness to achieve this)
