O Castro British School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed secondary school French specialist with Qualified Teacher Status to teach throughout the secondary years up to A Level and lead our successful French department. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • A relevant first degree & Teacher Education qualification
  • Excellent subject specialist knowledge
  • A clear philosophy on student achievement
  • An ability to challenge all students to achieve make excellent progress, appropriate to their needs
  • An ability to contribute meaningfully to the pastoral welfare of students in your care
  • An up to date knowledge of current educational developments
  • Eligible to work in the E.U.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching second language learners of English
  • A knowledge of Spanish

SUBJECT TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead by example to uphold the school and Globeducate group’s mission statement
  • Promote effective learning for all students in your care through excellent teaching
  • Assist in the planning, preparing and delivering departmental schemes of work in accordance with the students´ needs and interests
  • Create an effective and stimulating learning environment
  • Mark, test, assess and record in line with school and department policy
  • Use progress data to inform subject planning 
  • Complete end of term reports in line with school policy
  • Liaise with the Senior Managers regarding any problems or concerns over individual students
  • Follow and adhere to the school policies in all areas of the school
  • Meet regularly with parents to discuss pupil progress
  • Attend and participate in weekly meetings
  • Keep abreast of developments within your subject area
  • Undertake all other reasonable duties as requested by the Senior Management Team
  • For tutors, fulfil all tutor responsibilities with your tutor group

O Castro British International School was founded in 2008 as the first international school in Galicia. The school is situated in Mos, a town close to the city of Vigo.
