Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious and inspirational teacher to lead our committed and talented Geography department. The Head of Geography will be responsible for the leadership, oversight and good management of the Geography department. They will work with the departmental staff to ensure that the quality of teaching is at its very best, leading on new learning and teaching innovations in the subject, helping to facilitate all staff in the Department to discuss their teaching and develop new pedagogical techniques.
The Geography Department is lively and flourishing, making a substantial contribution to the academic life of the School and regularly achieves outstanding public examination results. Years 7 and 8 follow a course designed to include and extend on Key Stage 3 of the Geography National Curriculum. From Year 9 the Cambridge IGCSE specification is taught. At A level the new OCR specification is followed. From September 2018, the department are now offering IB. Fieldwork is an integral part of the study of Geography and we aim to give all students high quality fieldwork experience. Fieldwork locations have ranged from the Bristol to the French Alps.
