Harris Academy Orpington is looking for a Head of Geography: an exciting position at a school striving for excellence in attitude, ambition and achievement.  We are transforming an Academy and community as we work towards outstanding performance in all areas.

You will have the unique opportunity to transform, develop and lead in a subject area. You will lead a team who are willing, enthusiastic and committed to ensuring the students achieve outstanding outcomes having an excellent Geographical experience.

The successful candidate will lead an emerging area to excellence, building an outstanding reputation for Geography in the Academy.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who is a committed professional and has a real passion for Geography.  The successful candidate will be an Outstanding teacher, enthusiastic and have a deep understanding of all aspects of their subject.  There will be excellent CPD opportunities to support you in your development as a leader within the Academy and across the Federation as well as many opportunities within an internal, successful succession planning framework.

Working for Harris Federation

The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit charity. Led and run by teachers, we established our first school over 25 years ago.

There are now more than 40 happy and highly successful primary and secondary academies in our federation. All of these are in and around London. With each school that has joined us, the expectations we set ourselves have increased.

Every Harris academy so far inspected by Ofsted is rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’, with three quarters of our inspected secondary academies judged ‘outstanding’. Our primary schools are newer, but almost half are ‘outstanding’, with the rest ‘good’.
