Job overview

TMS on the Inner London Pay Scale
Additional Allowance of AA2b £4,530 (negotiable)

A position is available for an enthusiastic and dedicated Head of Geography.  Good geography teachers with commitment, enthusiasm and ambition but perhaps limited experience should also consider this post, as such applications will be taken seriously.

Geography is a thriving subject and is a popular choice at KS4 and KS5.  Uptake of Geography is increasing at GCSE and A level and students are enthusiastic about the subject.  The successful candidate will believe passionately in the importance of fieldwork in Geography and have a proven track record of raising attainment and have a clear understanding of how to use data to track progress and plan intervention.  You will be joining an enthusiastic team in the Humanities Faculty which also includes History, Sociology and Travel and Tourism.  Students achieve excellent results and their learning is enriched by visits, lectures and seminars outside of school.

The school boasts a really positive and supportive relationship between colleagues, and between staff and pupils. Paul Sutton, our Principal, encourages teachers to have an impact beyond their subject and he is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved. We have an impressive range of extra-curricular activities and all our staff are involved in running at least one. Ours is a caring and well-ordered environment in which all students can enjoy learning, develop enquiring minds and acquire the skills and knowledge they need for a changing world. Every day we see the results of our efforts in students who work responsibly and with consideration for others – they are the best ambassadors for the school.

Your personal development is important to us. You will be able to apply for one of our Learning Awards up to the annual value of £2,400, which could enable you to develop particular talents or skills. This is in addition to the school’s CPD programme. Other benefits include cycle to work and childcare voucher schemes.
