As a dynamic Head of Geography you will enthuse students through the provision of high-quality teaching and learning, encouraging all students to develop their potential to the full. The successful candidate will be a leader who is passionate about all aspects of geography with a drive to make a difference and develop the subject in our brand-new building (currently under construction).

The ideal candidate will be:

A leader who:

• Has a passion for Geography and someone who is able to build on the fantastic achievement of the past and take Geography forward in new and innovative ways

• Expects and demonstrates the highest standards and offers an aspirational role model for all department members

• Can enthuse our diverse range of students and see this diversity as a strength

• Has experience of narrowing the attainment gap between disadvantaged, SEND and non-disadvantaged students.

• Has some successful leadership experience in more than one school.

• Demonstrates good understanding of assessment and monitoring procedures.

• Is willing to learn and apply new techniques that contribute to high quality teaching, learning and assessment.

The postholder will be required to undergo criminal, teacher status, qualification, medical, online and reference checks as part of the recruitment process and must be willing to participate in further training as the job requires. The subject is a popular choice at GCSE.

GCSE results 2022: 54% Grade 4 and above.

A-Level has yet to be introduced. We are hoping that the successful candidate will work to ensure it is added to the post 16 curriculum

St Andrew the Apostle Greek Orthodox School is a mixed, Greek orthodox secondary free school and sixth form for pupils aged 11-19. It is located in Barnet, north London, and has the capacity to take about 1,050 pupils.

The school - the first Greek orthodox state-funded secondary in Britain - was established in 2013 jointly by the Russell Education Trust, the Greek Orthodox Church and the Classical Education Trust.
