Outwood Academy Normanby, Middlesbrough, has an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and inspiring Geography specialist with exceptional communication and management skills to lead our dedicated and well-qualified team.

We are seeking a Head of Geography with the drive, imagination and energy to deliver excellence. At Outwood Academy Normanby all students study both history and geography in years 7, 8 and 9, with all students choosing at least one humanity to study at GCSE. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead our supportive geography department, who have developed an exciting, innovative curriculum from Year 7 to Year 9 which builds key geographical knowledge, concepts and skills preparing students well for their GCSE studies and life beyond the academy. At GCSE we study AQA Geography.

The department is committed to driving progress and attainment to improve the life chances of every student. We require an excellent teacher and leader who is passionate about providing young people with the best possible education ensuring positive life chances for our students through success and achievement in this key area. If you care about the success of all students, and have the energy to make that vision a reality, we would welcome your application.

An excellent knowledge and understanding of geography is essential. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘Students First’. 

The role of Head of Geography at Outwood Academy Normanby would be ideal for either an experienced Head of Department or someone looking to make that next step. You will be supported extensively by leaders in school and by a team of Humanities Directors allowing you to strategically lead the faculty, whilst having the support and advice from the Director team. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to lead a progressive, outstanding department and be pivotal in shaping their continuing journey to world class.
