Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious and inspirational teacher to lead our committed and talented German department. The Head of German will be responsible for the leadership, oversight and good management of the German department. They will work with the departmental staff to ensure that the quality of teaching is at its very best, leading on new learning and teaching innovations in the subject, helping to facilitate all staff in the Department to discuss their teaching and develop new pedagogical techniques. 

Modern Languages occupy a major place in the School's curriculum and the study of at least one modern language is compulsory at GCSE. German is offered as a second modern language from Year 8. Lessons in all years are supplemented by authentic German language resources and teachers are adept at using Smart Notebook to plan and deliver lessons. We offer a trip to Berlin at Christmas for students in Years 8 and 9, a cultural visit to southern Germany for those in year 10, as well as a study trip to Hamburg for Sixth Form students. The successful candidate will support and develop such important links and trips.
