About Hillcrest Secondary School

First established in 1965, Hillcrest School is a co-educational independent international school located in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. It was founded with the intention of providing a high-quality international education to both local residents and the expatriate community. The school resides on a 5-acre campus in the city’s suburbs, and as a result is able to boast of a huge range of modern teaching and recreational facilities. These include numerous modern classrooms, computer labs, an amphitheatre, swimming pools and various other sports facilities, a dedicated design and technology centre, and even a conserved nature trail. Hillcrest offers places to around 630 students at both prep and secondary level, with a small amount of boarding provision for those who require it. In terms of curriculum, Hillcrest primarily follows a British-style international methodology. The British National Curriculum is followed throughout the early years and preparatory parts of the school. In secondary school, students work towards the IGCSE qualification, before being put forward for the British A-level 2 years later. Hillcrest also offers a number of vocational BTEC subjects for students to follow. Outside the classroom, the school offers a number of extra-curricular activities, including numerous competitive sports opportunities.
