Job overview

The core purpose of this post is to lead the teaching of Health and Social Care at Key Stage 4 and there is an exciting opportunity to develop H&SC in Key Stage 5. It will also afford the opportunity for teaching science at Key Stage 3. 

 It is expected that the successful candidate will engage with the numerous professional development opportunities, including the specialist science consultancy and support from the Teaching School, to consistently and effectively provide a high-quality learning experience which drives student progress.  The College teaches Biology, Chemistry and Physics from KS3, as well as combined sciences and Health and Social Care at Key Stage 4.  All three sciences are popular courses at A Level in our outstanding and high-achieving sixth form. We are looking for an innovative and forward–looking individual who can inspire students and contribute fully to a very active and successful Science team at Hatcham College.

• To work within and contribute to established College and department frameworks for 

o Lesson planning, delivery and evaluation.

o Student behaviour and care

o Student assessment

• To actively contribute to the teaching of Science across all age and ability ranges

To remain informed of current developments in the subject area, to participate in INSET and to initiate change where appropriate
