Head of HEART* and Therapy - (*Mental Health Provision)
Hours: Monday – Friday - 40 hours per week. Some flexibility is required.
Salary: £81,138 per annum (pro-rated to term-time only, actual salary £60,853.50)
Starting: Thursday 4th January 2024
Closing: Friday 1st September 2023
Open Evening: Thursday 13th July 2023, 5.00pm until 7.00pm.
The successful candidate will lead the School’s ‘Outstanding’ Mental Health and Therapy Teams. The postholder will be a key contributor to the School’s Senior Management Team by leading on the educational, pastoral, and clinical care of all students in HEART, our specialist department for young people with significant mental health needs. They will also oversee the Therapy Team to ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality, specialist therapeutic service and provide psychological services to the whole school.
Applicants will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of Mental Health, EHCP’s and therapeutic practice. They will hold a doctorate qualification in Educational Psychology and be able to provide a broad knowledge of trends and initiatives within the mental health and education sector and how this knowledge can be applied to the development and improvement of our mental health provision and therapeutic services.
West Heath School works towards the end goal of helping students re-integrate into mainstream learning and preparation for adulthood. All of our learners have EHCP’s and as a school we are proud to promote the development of life skills and social development as equal to academic achievement. Applicants must be prepared to work in the school environment, including beyond the school day and occasionally at external locations when required.

West Heath School is an Independent SEN residential school with charity status. We provide a therapeutically informed learning environment for children aged 10-19 who have suffered some form of trauma and are unable to access mainstream education.
