Head of History and TPR

We are seeking a Head of History and TPR to provide strong and inspirational leadership; to motivate, guide, encourage, support and monitor the performance of staff teaching history and TPR, ensuring good working relationships and high standards of teaching. The role would suit a secondary qualified history & TPR teacher, keen to gain or bring experience to the department, preferably with experience of the Common Entrance 13+ syllabus.

The successful applicant will :

• Have excellent classroom practice with understanding understanding of ISEB 13+ Common Entrance & CASE syllabi and to create a whole school scheme of work which builds towards the successful delivery of ISEB assessment criteria in Year 8.

• Teach History & TPR to Yrs 4 -8. Teaching a wide range of groups and abilities, ultimately leading to (13+) Common Entrance or (13+) Scholarship level examinations.

• Have a lively and creative personality, with a “can-do” attitude, and be an active member of the staff room.

Tower House is a single form entry boys’ preparatory school for 190 boys covering Reception to Year 8. We prepare pupils for the top senior schools in the UK.

We are located between Richmond upon Thames and Putney just off Richmond Park in East Sheen. We are an 8 minute walk from Mortlake train station (zone 3) and are well served by a number of buses. There is plenty of free street parking on the surrounding roads. The school is a 10 minute walk from Richmond Park and a 5 minute walk from East Sheen high street that has an excellent selection of cafes, restaurants, high street and independent shops.
