Greensward Academy has an outstanding History Department with excellent exam results and student uptake of this subject.  History is the largest optional subject at KS4 with over 140 students in each year group. There are two separate teaching groups in both years 12 and 13. Greensward Academy is committed to the wider history curriculum and runs trips to Berlin, Moscow and Krakow. We have two thriving history societies which meet weekly; one is led by the 6th form students. With over thirty members, the societies provide personally researched, engaging presentations, and we have arranged and run several additional trips and visits.

Greensward Academy are looking for:

  • An exceptional classroom teacher who demonstrates high standards of delivery in a consistent manner, who is committed to improving achievement across all key stages and who understands the strategies required to accomplish this.  Must be a strong leader with the ability to inspire both staff and students.  Enthusiastic, a winning personality, and an imaginative approach to the delivery of the curriculum area and attention to details are essential. 
  • To ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning in the department through development and personal example and to ensure all students make excellent progress.
  • To support the Senior Leadership Team and to deputise when and where appropriate.
  • To ensure provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students studying in the curriculum area in accordance with the aims of the Academy and the curricular policies determined by the Board of Governors and Principal.
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students within the subject area and as a Form Tutor
