Actual Salary from: £28,000 - £43,685 (M1 – U3)

The Role

We are looking to appoint an outstanding and inspirational Head of History to monitor and maintain high standards of student attainment and progress within the subject area of History and to monitor and support student achievement.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

●       Be accountable for student progress and development within the department.

●       Be innovative in your own teaching and to develop and enhance the teaching practice of others.

●       To liaise with the Faculty Leader Humanities to ensure the delivery of an appropriate, comprehensive, high-quality and cost-effective curriculum programme which complements the School Improvement Plan/School Evaluation.

●       To keep up-to-date with national developments in subject areas and teaching practice and methodology.

●       Ensure continuity and progression by supporting colleagues in choosing the appropriate sequence of teaching and teaching methods and setting clear learning objectives through an agreed scheme of work, developed in line with the School Improvement Plan.

●       Lead the development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work and teaching and learning strategies in the department which reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement through effective teaching and learning.

●       Qualified Teacher Status

●       Ability to teach lessons that challenge all students in Humanities (History, Geography and RS). A passion for teaching and making a real difference to young people

●       Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

In addition to internal CPD at St Helena, staff have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the Sigma Trust to share resources, ideas and build collaborative relationships. Excellent support is provided by the Sigma Trust through Strategic Leads in each Faculty.
