Head of History

Ballard SchoolNew Milton, Hampshire

“Quite simply a remarkable school” (parent)

An exciting opportunity has opened for a dynamic Head of History to join one of Hampshire’s highest achieving schools. Ballard is a thriving school, set in 34 acres, situated on the Hampshire/Dorset border, in between the New Forest and Solent. Ballard offers an inclusive working environment with exceptional facilities, including a Performing Arts Centre and an Olympic Astro. There are also excellent transport links.

There are exciting changes taking place at Ballard, with a new ambitious Leadership Team in place moving the School forward with confidence. We are already seeing excellent results, including a record set of GCSE results this summer and an increase in enquiries from prospective parents across all age groups. Ballard’s academic reputation is growing and we now have waiting lists in many of our year groups.

Ballard’s History Department has traditionally been a strong and academic Department at Ballard, with large numbers of pupils opting to take the subject at GCSE (Pearson Edexcel GCSE course). Over the last few years, we have entered a growing number of Year 8 pupils into the Townsend Warner History Prize, one of the oldest Prep School competitions in the country. Our pupils perform extremely well, often coming in the top 100.

This post would suit a current Head of History or a dynamic, experienced teacher looking for promotion to a middle management role. With excellent and motivational teaching skills, the successful candidate will be able to bring out the best in each and every pupil and contribute to the holistic education provided.

Salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience.
