As a high profile British international school, for children aged 3-18, we focus on developing a growth mindset within our students and staff.

Doha College offers a well-balanced all-embracing curriculum.  History is taught from Key Stage 3 to A Level and is a popular choice for students both at iGCSE and A Level.  Our iGCSE uptake is around 60 students and our A Level around 20.  We study the Cambridge iGCSE syllabus, which covers the build up to Word War II 1919-39 and has Russia as our Depth Study. For the Edexcel Linear GCE syllabus, our chosen topics are England 1509-1603, Martin Luther and the German Reformation, the Origins of the Cold War and Civil Rights and Race Relations 1850-2009.

You will be entering a high achieving department which focuses upon academic success. Our 2016 iGCSE Cohort (59) achieved 100% A*-C and 70% A*/A.  At A Level our cohort (16) A*-C rate was 88%.
We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Head of History with the ability to teach from KS3 to A Level.  You will be entering a highly motivated Department of 3 other staff; we are all keen historians who live and breathe our subject and hold a great desire to disseminate our enthusiasm to students.  History classes are all mixed ability with a high top end, which enables staff to make the subject accessible for all, and at the same time be able to stretch the top end of the cohort.  Candidates should have demonstrated success in their current role, be a highly motivated and successful practitioner and be willing to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the college.  A high level of subject knowledge and, above all else, a real passion for the subject is necessary.

Alongside an academic focus, the History department also offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, aimed at increasing learning of the subject and promoting the uptake of the subject at iGCSE and A-level, these include; a medieval pop song contest, a bi-annual history trip to places linked to our syllabus, for example Washington DC, Munich, Auschwitz, as well as trips to the Universities here in Qatar. 

As Head of History, you will be an inspirational leader and trend setting teacher, who will be responsible for overseeing the creative teaching of History.  You will also responsible for teaching from KS3 to A Level, monitoring and evaluation of student achievement and contribute to accomplishing the college’s vision and mission. The successful candidate will be an outstanding role model within the History Department and Doha College as a whole.

You will have:
