Didsbury High School is a new secondary free school for 11-18 students in South Manchester. The school is operated by the Laurus Trust and replicates the outstanding education already provided by the Trust’s founder school, Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS). It opened in September 2019, initially providing 210 Year 7 places in seven forms with 30 students in each.
CHHS is the founder school of the Laurus Trust, a new multi-academy trust in the North-West of England. The vision of the Trust is for everyone regardless of background or circumstance to be inspired to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and work hard to achieve them.
CHHS & DHS are hugely oversubscribed schools with reputations locally, and further afield for outstanding teaching and learning through the relentless pursuit of excellence and determination to ensure that every child succeeds.
In the list of secondary state schools, CHHS is in the top 20 non-denominational comprehensive schools nationally. This is a fantastic achievement for students and staff and particularly for the Sixth Form, celebrating its fifth set of A level results.
We were judged Outstanding in every single category by Ofsted in 2011 and 2015. The 2018 results for CHHS put us in the top 3% of schools nationally (based on the 'Progress 8' performance measure), which is the highest rating in Stockport and shows CHHS outperforming many schools throughout the Greater Manchester region.
A training school for fourteen years and a Teaching School for a further six, CHHS is home to the Altius Alliance centre of excellence providing School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) for teachers of students aged 11-16, judged Outstanding in 2017.
If you want to work in a highly ambitious and successful school, and have the passion and commitment to join us at an exciting time for learning and development as we expand and open new schools in the Trust, then we would like to hear from you.
