Winchester College seeks to appoint a dynamic, inspiring and ambitious Head of History.
The Department prepares candidates for IGCSE and Pre-U History. Medieval, early modern and modern British and European History are taught, and the successful candidate will ideally be competent to teach at least two of these areas to the highest level. They will be enthusiastic about promoting and developing a strong and successful department. Each year, pupils from Winchester go on to study History at Oxbridge and other top universities.
This post will suit teachers of the highest calibre who will relish the challenge of working with able and articulate pupils in a historic site of unparalleled architectural beauty in the heart of Winchester.
All our full time teachers are expected to act as tutors in one of the eleven boarding houses, thereby making a significant contribution to the pastoral care of our pupils. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute in some capacity to our sports and co-curricular programme.
