Job overview

Blue Coat is a successful and oversubscribed school in the heart of the city of Coventry. As a Christian school our intake draws from both the local area and across the city and surrounding areas. Consequently we have a diverse intake and a culturally thriving school. The school was graded 'Outstanding' in its SIAMS inspection and 'Good' by Ofsted in June 2016 and continues to perform exceptionally well academically. Our average grade at GCSE is B- and our Progress 8 score is +0.3. The vast majority of our students stay on into the sixth form and continue their studies.

We have a large and successful Post 16 provision with over 300 pupils studying either A levels or Vocational level 2 and 3 courses and GCSEs. Last year we had the highest number of A*-B grades in a Coventry state school and we have excellent rates of progression to universities, apprenticeships and employment.

At Blue Coat we are determined to provide a practical, engaging and rigorous History and Sociology curriculum that both enthuses students and enables them to pursue the subject to the full extent of their ability. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and welcoming team with a culture of collaboration and teamwork that creates a lively and stimulating working environment.

We are looking for someone who is an excellent classroom practitioner who is committed to providing the very best outcomes for all of our students. You will be passionate about History and Sociology and able to teach History at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and preferably Sociology at KS5.

You will provide the vision and strategic direction to a committed and hardworking team and be determined to raise and sustain student progress and achievement.  As a middle leader you will have impact both in your department and across the wider school.

Interviews will be held on Friday 25 May 2018
