Job overview

About the department:

Our ‘FLEX’ entry-level curriculum has been graded as Outstanding for several years. All the programmes aim to help learners progress into independent living, further education and training or employment, and involve a mix of vocational study, basic English, Maths and IT and personal and social development. The courses offer tutorials, enrichment opportunities, and advice and guidance on the future as learner confidence grows.

Our curriculum is personalised to the learner, facilities include a café and secret garden, a place to sell enterprise products and independent living space, and we have excellent links with local schools.

All in all, it’s a fantastic place to learn and work!

About the role:

As Head of Inclusion, you’ll have the opportunity to lead and improve on this already successful provision, managing student recruitment, retention, achievement and progression, and further developing our inclusive curriculum. You will also lead the Additional Learning Support service across the College ensuring that all learners with disabilities receive the support they need to achieve their learning goals.

More about you:

Key to your success will be your ability to lead a strong team in a rapidly changing external landscape. In addition, you will have extensive practical experience of teaching learners with moderate or severe learning difficulties, as well as a good knowledge of the systems and procedures for the provision of Additional Learning Support. As an individual, you will have a degree level qualification, be solution-focused, positive and an excellent communicator.

See what we have to offer and come join us. You won’t be disappointed.

The Wakefield District
Wakefield offers a rare combination of heritage, countryside, entertainment, culture, shopping and sport. Whatever your interests, we hope you will want to explore the District and its many amenities.

For art lovers, there is the City Art Gallery and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, one of the world’s leading open-air galleries where a changing programme of international sculpture can be seen in the setting of a magnificent country park. Recent improvements to the Park include an underground gallery, visitor centre, shop and large restaurant - all the ingredients for a great day out. In 2011 the Hepworth gallery opened on Wakefield’s regenerated waterfront and presents a major collection of twentieth-century British artworks, with a collection of sculptures by locally-born Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore as its centrepiece.

Whatever your interests, we hope you will want to explore the District and its many amenities.
