Job overview

Joining us as Head of IT Operations, you will manage the IT support teams who provide technical support that ensures the availability of ICT systems and services across all of our sites.


You will work with customers, management and project teams to provide smooth and timely delivery of projects where IT resources are involved. Monitoring project status and ensuring project deliverables meet College Group needs, you will use your clear understanding of customer requirements and effective project reporting and delivery solutions to support IT teams and IT users.


As our Head of IT Operations, we’d like you to be educated to Level 3 as a minimum and have expert experience in computer hardware/software installation, audio-visual technology and printer technology. Results focused and with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, you’ll have proven experience of managing a team across multiple site and be able to establish credibility with senior managers and understand the business need; ensuring all activities from Service Management, Disaster Recovery and Strategy and Planning streamlines the customer experience.


With strong influencing, negotiation and decision-making skills, you’ll have a good understanding of infrastructure, networking, Cloud and security services, and have detailed experience of Microsoft Active Directory, Desktop and Server Operating systems. You’ll also have a good understanding of Microsoft/Apple System Deployment and Management Tools, knowledge of Wireless Technologies and experience of diagnosing issues in a PC/mac environment.


An ITIL V3 Foundation certification is desirable, as is experience of diagnosing issues in an infrastructure environment.


This position is predominantly based at Merton College but as it is a Group wide post, it will involve travel to other College sites.
