Technology is at the heart of everything we do at South Thames Colleges Group, we are constantly working to improve our IT systems and services for staff, students and partners. Joining us as Head of IT Operations, you will manage the IT support teams who provide technical support that ensures the availability of ICT and AV systems and services across all of our sites.


You will work with customers, management and project teams to provide smooth and timely delivery of services and projects where IT resources are involved. Monitoring services and project status and ensuring deliverables meet College Group needs, you will use your clear understanding of service management and customer requirements to proactively lead on effective reporting and delivery solutions to support IT teams and IT users.


As our Head of IT Operations, you will have experience in supporting Computing Services (both hardware & software) in a complex environment. Demonstrable experience of Service Management and Project Management is essential. Experience of working in an Educational setting is not essential.


Reporting to the Director and Deputy Director of IT Services you will be results focused, with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude. You will have proven experience of managing a IT support team across multiple site and be able to establish credibility with senior managers and understand the business need; ensuring all activities from IT Support, Service Management, Planning and Disaster Recovery streamlines the customer experience.


With strong influencing, negotiation and decision-making skills, you’ll have experience of Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365, Microsoft Desktop and Server Operating systems as well as an understanding of infrastructure, networking, Cloud and security services. You will also have a good understanding of Microsoft Deployment and Management Tools, knowledge of Wireless Technologies and experience of diagnosing issues in a PC environment.


This position is currently based at Merton College but could be located at any of the other Group’s College sites (Kingston, Carshalton, Wandsworth). As it is a Group wide post it will involve travel to other College sites.
