Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital School seeks a head of Juniors who is capable of innovation and imaginative direction.
The successful candidate will:
- Possess proven and successful experience in school leadership either as an outstanding and high-flying deputy head or an experienced head
- Be a collegiate and collaborative team- player capable of leading and managing the strategic direction and development of the Junior School and also contribute to the development of the whole school as a member of the Senior Management Team
- Have presence as an educationalist abreast of change with the capacity to inspire great learning and outcomes
- Be a confident and impressive communicator who will command the interest and imagination of staff, pupils and potential parents

Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital is an independent school with 672 in the Senior School, of which 230 are in the Sixth Form. This includes a growing number of girls following the school's move to post 16 co-education in 2017. The Junior School, which opened in 2007, occupies the same site and has 109 boys. The Headmaster is a member of the Headmasters’ Conference. Admission is by entrance examination and the school is heavily oversubscribed. Academic standards are high (each year QEH is ranked in the top 50 Independent Schools in the national league tables).
There are excellent facilities for sport, music, art and drama. The school enjoys a large endowment income which is used to assist families with fees and which helps to ensure that the school is not only academically selective but also socially comprehensive.
Situated in Clifton, close to the university and the city centre, the school has extensive games fields at Failand, some 4 miles away and completed a comprehensive £3 million redevelopment of facilities which opened in September 2019.
In recent years much redevelopment has taken place and the school now has a purpose built theatre, a design and technology centre and excellent ICT facilities as well as a new £3.7 million Science and Art Building, opened in 2016.
Since September 2017, the Sixth Form is co-educational, allowing girls to benefit from a QEH education. An extension to the current Sixth Form Centre opened in September 2017 to support this development and further improvements opened in September 2018.
