Job overview

Long Close School is a thriving co-educational through school for pupils age 2-16 with high academic standards, found to be 'outstanding' in our Inspection of October 2015.

Non-selective for entry at Reception, Long Close School is a friendly and family orientated school, where partnerships between parents are actively encouraged and fostered through our open door policy. The unique relationship between pupils, teachers and support staff is one of the key strengths and, as a result, pupils thrive and progress in our environment.

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational leader with the vision and skills to build upon the outstanding practice that is already in place in the Junior School.  You will have the personal qualities to lead, motivate and inspire a modern forward-thinking school, the ability to grow and maintain a fat-paced, high-achieving Junior School, as well as strong academic qualifications, proven experience of successful leadership and management (ideally in an independent school).

Whether you are currently an Assistant or Deputy Head seeking your first headship or a successful Head of School looking for a new challenge, you will have the drive and vision to take forward what is already a great school into a new phase of development.

Long Close School is part of Cognita Schools, a global education group which owns 80 schools in 8 countries. Since Cognita’s launch in 2004, we’ve built an international network of schools that serve some +30,000 pupils across countries in the UK, Europe, Latin America and South-East Asia.

Cognita’s international network of schools and regional offices, combined with our ongoing investment in the professional development of our people, means we can offer first-class career opportunities with a global dimension. If you want to take your career further, we want to support you in achieving that goal.

Further details are available from the Headmasters PA on 01753-520095. Closing date for applications will be Friday 22 September 2017 with interviews being held week commencing 28  September  2017.

Cognita Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.
