The Laureate Kindergarten is looking for an inspirational and engaging founding Head of Kindergarten in Nanjing, China. The Head of Kindergarten will be the educational leader of The Laureate Kindergarten. He / she will deliver an enriched curriculum, which supports the vision, ethos and policies of the whole school, blending an outward looking and internationally focused perspective with an enriched and academically ambitious approach to the Chinese state curriculum.
The founding Head of Kindergarten will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kindergarten, working in close partnership with their deputy, the Chinese Head of Kindergarten, who will manage all aspects of operational delivery, especially those connected to Chinese government requirements, supply chains, and local stakeholders. The successful candidate will combine a track record of highly successful educational leadership, developed in the UK or internationally, with the cultural awareness and global perspective to inspire the whole kindergarten community and manage diverse stakeholder relationships. A genuine resonance with Laureate Kindergarten’s distinctive educational values and a commitment to embedding these within the kindergarten is essential.
The Laureate Kindergarten seeks an individual with an open and inclusive management style, who is able to develop the strong sense of community and clear educational values within the school. The candidate will have an outward-looking, international perspective and will ensure the integration of an enriched bilingual curriculum into the school. The ideal candidate will have experience of the British curriculum, upon which The Laureate Kindergarten’s curriculum is based, as well as a developed understanding of the pastoral care needs of young learners.
The Laureate Kindergarten’s learning environment will model a modern bilingual immersive environment, with bilingual student support, guidance, and instruction, although one in which the majority of activities favour English language usage, in order to prioritise the second language development of the young Chinese learners. This learning environment emerges not only through the play-based discoveries of children, but also through extensive extra-curricular activities which reinforce the skills and learning objectives fostered throughout the primary curriculum.

The Head of Kindergarten is expected not only to understand the academic theories underlying the approach, but also to strategically deliver its aims, while communicating its benefits to families.

The Head of Kindergarten will manage the (bilingual) Head of Kindergarten (Chinese certified) to ensure that the kindergarten achieves international standards. The (bilingual) Head of Kindergarten (Chinese certified) will support the Head of Kindergarten by managing relationships with the local government, local supply chains, and by maintaining positive relationships with assorted stakeholders who favour Chinese language communication.
