Salary Scale Point: 24-26 (dependent on experience) 

FTE: £21,962-£23,398 (this will be pro-rated in line with Academy terms & conditions)

The Bishop of Winchester Academy is an oversubscribed and thriving Church of England School, recognised by Ofsted as ‘Improving the life chances of all our pupils’ (May 2017). There are exciting opportunities to join our motivated and ambitious team driven by the mantra of high expectations – no excuses. 

We are looking for an exceptional and inspirational Head of Learning Character. This person will not only lead on Behaviour but be integral in further developing the Learning Character of the Academy. 

The salary we are offering is far higher than a job like this would normally pay. This is because we want someone who is outstanding.

We are looking for a person who believes in a strong, ‘tough love’ approach to discipline and that you understand the importance of fostering a growth mindset with pupils. 

If you expect high standards, offer no excuses and believe strongly that children should be respectful and self-disciplined at all times then this may be the role for you. 

The role is suitable for a determined and resilient individual who believes that a culture of excellent behaviour for learning and respect is vital to the progress of our pupils and key to maximizing their life chances.

About The Bishop of Winchester Academy

The Bishop of Winchester Academy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, is a Church of England secondary school that prides itself on its curriculum, governance and outstanding student behaviour. Students aged 11-18 experience teaching in new state-of-the-art buildings and have first-class resources at their fingertips. The school operates in an area where there are schools that select for entry on grounds of ability.

The mixed secondary school was opened in September 2010 as a sponsor-led academy. In September 2014, the Bishop of Winchester Academy extended its educational opportunities by opening its own sixth form.
