Job overview

Jersey is a beautiful island, with a temperate climate and an abundance of beaches. This role would be suitable for a professional who is passionate about enabling young people with additional needs to access learning - and looking for an opportunity to make a difference in a special and scenic setting.

We are seeking an outstanding leader to manage a large team and who would also lead on the coordination of Records of Need (EHCPs), DSAs and Health Care Plans, academic study support and exam access arrangements.

Support provided by this department includes the provision for Hearing and Visual Impairments, Physical/ Medical needs, Autism, and Specific Learning Difficulties - and as such a secure knowledge and understanding of a range of SEND is a must, as well as the ability to manage a busy and diverse workload.

Jersey has its own Education Department, has its own operational guidance for inclusion and Special Education Needs, and is unique in its funding methodology. The post-holder would be an experienced and capable manager, who would shape and adapt best practice models from the U.K and apply them with a degree of autonomy within the College.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within an interesting and inclusive learning environment. Contact Dreena Collins (Assistant Principal) on 01534 608676 or Dreena.collins@highlands.ac.uk for an informal discussion about this role.

Salary:  MPS/ UPS + Supplementary Allowance 5
Depending on years of experience and qualifications
Permanent role, Full time (30 hrs per week)

Closing date: 25th October 2018
