This is an exceptional opportunity to lead Learning Support provision throughout our wonderful school. We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, enthusiastic, outstanding Head of Learning Support at Upton House School. This is a warm, caring and happy school in which to work, with traditional and strong values, but constantly forward thinking. We are situated in the heart of Windsor within easy walking distance to the castle and town centre. Recent ISI Inspections have given excellent ratings to all aspects of the school, its leadership and governance.

 We place great emphasis on providing a supportive and caring educational environment and pastoral care is a key element of life at Upton House. With small classes teachers are able to educate, encourage and nurture pupils on an individual level. The school works with a forwards looking and experienced governing body with a wide range of skills from within the academic, financial and commercial sectors, as well as a very supportive an active parent body.

The role is to teach, co-ordinate and oversee the support and provision for SEND pupils across the school, whilst maintaining high expectations for all. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of EYFS, Head of Pre-Prep, Head of Prep, and Headteacher to co-ordinate support for all SEND pupils. The Head of Learning Support will manage a team of Learning Support Teachers and Learning Support Assistants and ensure that support is effectively timetabled throughout the school.

 We are looking for a candidate who:

  •  Is an outstanding qualified teacher with proven excellent teaching experience preferably KS1/ KS2
  • Is a SEND specialist
  • Is an ambitious and innovative teacher, dedicated to the success of their learners, with the desire to inspire pupils
  • Has a collaborative approach to work and a proven ability to motivate and support others
  • Has excellent communication skills: ability to listen, empathise and understand needs of others
  • Has excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrates a desire to continue to extend their knowledge and is committed to their own professional development
  • Shows commitment, motivation and relentless drive for standards of excellence, creativity and continuous improvement in practice
  • Has the ability to clearly demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to promoting the welfare of young people

Upton House School is a independent co-educational preparatory school in Windsor, Berkshire. The school was first opened in 1936, and is located on a one acre site in the centre of Windsor. In 2008 the two-storey facility Little Upton was opened, containing pre-nursery and nursery rooms with access to an outdoor play area. There are approximately 295 students on the school roll. Upton House is denominationally Christian, and is a registered charity.
