Job overview

We are seeking a collaborative, principled and experienced leader to take on this key leadership role within our school community. The successful candidate will oversee the management of the Lower School, comprising students aged 3 to 11 in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. The successful candidate will have a commitment to student-led, inquiry-based learning and the attributes of the IB learner profile

Dwight School Dubai is a well-established IB World School offering the Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma (DP) programmes for students aged 3 - 18. Our school is rooted in a long history of innovation in education dating back to the founding of Dwight School (New York) in 1872. We are in a close partnership with the Dwight family of schools, with schools in New York, London, Seoul, Shanghai and a Global, online school.

The Head of Lower School is a member of the School Leadership Team, which also includes the Head of School, the Head of Upper School, the PYP Coordinator, the MYP Coordinator and the Diploma Coordinator. 

We are looking for someone who:   

  • Has at least five years experience working in a school, including at least two years as a leader or manager  
  • Has experience working in an IB World or International School  
  • Has a degree from a recognised University  
  • Embodies collaboration and has an enthusiasm for working alongside colleagues and building an ethos of teamwork  
  • Is principled, thoughtful and intentional in making decisions and taking action  
  • Is an excellent communicator  
  • Has a flair for strategic thinking  
  • Has a growth mindset and values innovation as a route to improvement and growth.   
  • Builds and foster relationships with colleagues, students and families that are characterised by kindness, care, empathy and respect
