Aldar Education is currently seeking a high-performing Head of Mathematics Department for the August 2021 start. The current vacancy is based in ADNOC School, Madinat Zayed in Western Region, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for all aspects of the work of a core department
  • Development and implementation of departmental policies and practices in line with whole school expectations.
  • Use a range of data to inform policies, practices, expectations, targets, and teaching methods.
  • Formulation of a department action plan and identification of clear targets for improvement.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of progress in achieving the department’s plans and targets.
  • To raise standards of student attainment and achievement within the whole curriculum area and to monitor and support student progress.
  • To be accountable for student progress and development within the curriculum area.
  • To develop and enhance the teaching practice of others. 
  • To ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students studying in the curriculum area, in accordance with the aims of the school and the curricular policies determined by ADNOC Schools/Aldar Education
  • To be accountable for leading, managing, and developing the curriculum area. 
  • To effectively manage and deploy teaching/educational support staff, financial and physical resources within the curriculum areas. 

• Ensuring curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression in the subject for all students.

• Ensuring clear guidance for teaching the subject and enhancing key skills through the schemes of work including research and technology-based learning.

• Ensuring that there is a clear departmental assessment policy in line with school guidance and examination requirements providing internal examination papers and external examination entries, as required.

• Evaluating the teaching of the subject in the school and taking action to improve further the quality of teaching.

• Developing links with other members of the local and extended school community in order to extend the subject curriculum, enhance teaching and develop students’ broader understanding of the subject.

• Ensuring implementation of school policies on issues such as equal opportunities, teaching, and learning, behavior management.

• Promoting effective departmental expectations of behavior in line with whole school policies.

• Chairing department meetings and representing the department on various curriculum groups and school events as required.

• Evaluating the effectiveness of staff as required by the school policy and using the process further to develop the personal and professional effectiveness of individual staff.

• Identifying departmental training needs and supporting and coordinating the delivery of appropriate high-quality professional development.

• Inducting new staff with particular emphasis on the needs of trainees and newly qualified teachers.

• Working with the HOD, Middle/High School coordinators, and the SENCO to ensure appropriate subject-specific targets are set and work is differentiated and well matched to meet student needs.

• To be responsible for efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources through:

          1. Establishing staff and resource needs.

           2. Allocation of available subject resources.

           3. Deploying staff involved in the subject to ensure the best use of subject, technical and other expertise.

          4. Ensuring the effective and efficient management and organization of learning resources including ICT.

         5. Managing accommodation to create an effective and stimulating environment for the teaching and learning of the subject.

• Undertake additional duties as required by the Principal or Vice Principal as appropriate.

You must be a fully qualified teacher with:

• Passionate and caring educators

•      Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or a bachelor’s degree in a related subject with PGCE or other teacher qualification 

• 6 years’ experience, including 4 consecutive years teaching performance exceeds standards and expectations as evidenced by Performance Appraisal

• Experience of the American curriculum

• A commitment to an extensive enrichment program
