Head of Mathematics (secondary)

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring leader to join our team from August 2017. To deliver our high standard of educational excellence, our teachers are well-qualified, confident, well-organised, have a good sense of humour and participate fully in all aspects of school life within and beyond the classroom. We are now looking for a like-minded colleague to lead our Mathematics Department in the Secondary School in the next exciting phase of its development. An enthusiasm for developing our collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) within the school is essential.

The Head of Mathematics is responsible to the Deputy Head and Head of Secondary for all aspects of the Mathematics Department and for planning for its development and is a key member of the middle leadership team of the school.  The Head of Mathematics will demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism and will, in particular:

  • Embody the school’s mission in word and action;
  • Be passionate about international education;
  • Gain and maintain the trust and confidence of students, colleagues and parents;
  • Be accountable for all aspects of standards in the Mathematics Department;
  • Ensure continuity with our Primary School and contribute to the development of curriculum, pedagogy, and teaching across the school;
  • Motivate students and staff to aspire to excellence in all that they do;
  • Build a strong, high-performing team of mathematics teachers;
  • Create the conditions for staff to continue to learn;
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding students;
  • Deploy resources with due diligence, with efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Plan strategically for the continual improvement of the Mathematics Department.

Selection Process

The closing date for applications is 16th December 2016.  Early applications are encouraged, and we reserve the right to appoint before the closing date. First stage interviews will be conducted by Skype and final interviews will take place in person in London in January or by Skype, depending on location.

Start date: 15th August 2017.
