This is an exciting opportunity for a determined, driven and ambitious individual who is ready to lead and drive the mathematics department to the next level. 

St Julian’s is an ambitious, over-subscribed comprehensive school situated in the city of Newport. We have an excellent reputation within the local community as a result of our continuous drive to meet the needs of each individual learner. We have almost 1600 students on roll 

We are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and will show evidence they have the ability to lead and inspire our students, developing a love of learning and mathematics across the school.  Evidence of leadership experience, raising standards and working within a team environment are essential requisites. The successful candidate requires the qualities necessary to ensure cohesion and consistency within the team of staff whilst not stifling individual creativity.

The Maths Department have recently enjoyed their best ever GCSE and A Level results with Year 11 gaining 57% A* - C (including 19% A* - A) and A Level results which included the majority of students gaining the higher grades. The successful candidate will lead and motivate a specialist team of 11 staff to ensure that standards continue to rise and targets are met. 

The Governing Body have agreed to award a recruitment and retention allowance to the successful candidate after a fixed time period.
